Written Circles

Written Circles is a generative program made for  Written Images: a project in contemporary generative print design and art. Its final products will be a book that presents programmed images by various artists. Each print in process will be calculated individually – which makes every single book unique.

Vari ed eterogeni sono gli spunti interpretativi che vi si possono individuare.
L’idea di serializzazione estetica introdotta da Warhol viene aumentata grazie alla potenzialità della programmazione generativa a porre la società dell’informazione come risposta all’alienazione consumistica.
Gli oggetti ready- made vengono moltiplicati in strutture frattali suggerendo la trasformazione dei processi industriali in processi naturali, dalla produzione alla creazione.
Lo spettatore al centro di un opera finalmente aperta, che esiste e si modifica solo in presenza di un pubblico che interagisce naturalmente ed immediatamente con il medium digitale.
Ed anche un territorio di memoria, dove gli avvenimenti si bilanciano nei toni e nella distribuzione topografica di una griglia piegata a strumento di espressione personale.

Oblivion

Oblivion is an interactive video piece by Paolo Tonon.

Oblivion transforms real time video input in a three dimensional grid of colored cubes. It also “learns” the background and when a person or an object comes in the camera scope the cubes that form person’s image come forward to spectator’s point of view.

Oblivion is made in Processing, music on video is courtesy of Donnacha Costello.

You can download the source code. To try it you need a webcam, once the program started go outside the camera scope and click left mouse button. Enjoy!
